Happy Verterans Day all! Being a Navy Vet I am lucky enough to work for a company that provides us a paid day off each Veterans Day, an awesome gesture my opinion. That being said I try not to squander my bosses generosity and try to attend what celebrations I can. My day always starts with a visit to the Galena MD for their 9AM ceremony. Usually attended by many WWII, Korea and Vietnam Nam vets as well as the entire 8th grades from both local public and private schools. It is important for these kids to understand the sacrifices made by others so we have the freedoms we have today. Also a nice talk by Congressman Wayne Gilcrest tying his own Vietnam Nam experience to the modern world for these young people. A nice lunch at a local restaurant with my wife and granddaughter and off to discover my local VFW did not have a ceremony this year, puzzled, I need to find out why not.
